Technology Advancements

With all the competiton among gaming companies, manufacturers needed technological innovations incorporated within their own products in order to propel their sales and to set them apart from competing brands. Comparing the previous artifact, The Sega Genesis, and the upcoming artifact, The Nintendo 64 highlights some of these advances. The Nintendo 64 had a faster CPU speed as well as more memory storage. It also allowed for two more controllers to be connected so that up to four people could play simultaneously rather than two. The Nintendo 64 console itself was smaller in dimesions as well as lighter in weight than the Sega Genesis which also aided in the visual appeal. 

The Nintendo 64 introduced a 3D gaming world which inspired many alike companies to do the same. It also introduced multiplayer split-screen gaming that allowed for much more competition and fun between users during the actual gameplay.
