If you’re like me then you grew up playing on a Wii with your family and friends all the time.  The Nintendo Wii offered a unique and fascinating gaming experience due to their controller systems which had movement sensors and allowed you to simply point the controller at the screen to operate like a computer mouse. The Wii was developed and released by the Japanese company Nintendo. It officially released to the world in November of 2006 and was highly successful. 1 . The Wii is intended to be a video game console which is compatible with hundreds of games, the main ones being MarioKart, Smash Bros, Mario Bros and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. 2 . A massive part of the Wii’s success was that in addition to their motion sensor controllers and Mario games they developed a line of healthy games that paired up with the controllers perfectly. Nintendo launched their Wii Sports and Wii Fit series right after the release of the console and immediately they were some of the most talked about games. Studies were conducted in order to see the impact the games had and found that they really were helping people to lead healthier lifestyles. 3 . The Nintendo Wii has sold just about 101.63 million consoles worldwide making it one of, if not the most successful consoles of all time. 4 . With movement sensor technology in the controllers that was first of its kind, extremely simple yet competitive games for the whole family and games promoting a healthy lifestyle it’s no real surprise how the Wii was able to sell so many units.
