Sony’s Playstation 2 played a big part in many of my childhood memories with friends and family, but this gaming console's history goes much further beyond my own connection to it. Sony was founded in 1946 by Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka in Tokyo Japan and many years later came the release of the Playstation 2 1 . In Japan it was released in March 2000 and in the rest of the world it was released a few months later in October 2000 six years after the release of the Playstation 1 2 . The Playstation 2 is a gaming system mainly, it runs a variety of software like video games and movies. Its external attributes include 2 wired controller ports, 2 memory card slots, 2 usb slots, is black in color with a rainbow Playstation logo on the front and its dimensions are  3.1" × 11.9" × 7.2" as well as coming in at a weight of 4.85 lbs 3 . This console was originally a deal made with Nintendo to develop a console with a CD add on by a contract dispute left Sony on their own with the compilation of the console which ended up playing in Sony's favor bigtime 4 . With over 150 million Playstation 2 consoles sold, over 10,000 games created, and continued to outsell the Playstation 3 after its release in 2006, the Playstation 2 will go down as one of the greatest and most successful consoles in history5 .
