About Jack Rice, Exhibit Editor and Creative Consultant (Summer 2021)

jack rice Hi! My name is Jack Rice. I’m a data scientist, avid golfer and skier, and history Buff. I originally began work on The Dig in INFO 3101 History of Computing during the Spring 2020 semester. As someone who has always looked more into the future and less into the past, this course opened my eyes to how much we can grow from the advancements and failures of those in history. I am graduating in December 2021 with a B.S. in Information Science and a Minor in Business. The way that we interact with data and technology has always been fascinating to me which only grew as I explored my major. Upon completion of INFO 3101 during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I felt as though I was not done with my work on The Dig and set up an independent study with Dr. Roshanna Sylvester in the Summer of 2021. It was an extremely rewarding experience where I was able to grow my knowledge of the histories of the MAL and website creation as well as contributing to something I hope continues to teach those who visit it.
