NOKIA 3120B

Business adventures of any sort are never complete without their fair share of risks and unknown obstacles. However, at this point in time Nokia had already blown it out of the water twice, both with their classic 3310 as well as the original 3100. Nokia had a history as well as a reputation for setting the bar when it came to cellphones in the very late 90’s and early 2000’s. I believe that this success had something to do with the company's principles that they followed which were dubbed “the four P’s 1 .”, Price, Place, Promotion, and Product.

However, something must have seriously shifted following the release of their 3100 2 ., which did fairly well, because that following year the product that was released to the market did not adhere to the company's principles. What was released to the public was simply a rehashed version of what they put out a year prior. Granted, Nokia’s “Brand” new 3120B did include a couple features that set it apart from its parent phone, but those features were not grand enough to warrant a new device being released. Features that were different were very small ranging from different faceplates for the phone to a larger keypad for those individuals with bigger fingers. 3 .

This new phone was not new enough for the company Nokia, and soon public favor and affection for the company would soon decrease. Leaving behind a short lived, yet very memorable company that many of us have memories of.

Even though the Nokia 3120B was not a revolutionary mobile device it did serve as a sort of benchmark or basis for the devices to follow it in the future. Nokia’s early small handheld devices walked so that other companies and devices could run. Innovations by companies such as Nokiareally allowed for the market of this technology to exponentially grow. Before long several companies would try to capitalize on this market, such as the company LG, who would go on to create versions of the cell phone that we are more familiar with today. Small Personal Devices with touchscreens and keyboards for easy texting, as well bluetooth and stereo music streaming.
