Have you ever wished to practice your typing proficiency while in a safe and comfortable environment or wanted a sense of nostalgia from the 90s? Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 1 is the perfect software that you should try to get your hands on. Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing aka Mavis Beacon first came out on the Commodore 64 2 . through the use of floppy disks 3 . in the spring of 1989. Mavis Beacon is a software designed to help its users type more ergonomically as and faster by using a safe and comfortable environment that encourages its users to practice through the use of games and typing tests.

Mavis Beacon was produced with hours upon hours of content that would allow its users to come back and practice with something new everyday. This content includes games such as a type racing game 4 ., typing lessons, as well as allowing the user to have the ability to create their own lessons for more specialized practice. Mavis Beacon works with the user to improve at their own pace using a plethora of tools such as WPM or CPM which stands for Word Per Minute and Characters Per Minute respectively. Mavis Beacon also gives typing goals that start as low as 10 WPM which allows for an entryway for beginners who have never used a keyboard and Mavis works with the user to move towards other goals such as looking at the keyboard to type and using the index fingers so that they may improve their typing efficiency.

Though there are many similar websites that have taken a page out of Mavis Beacon’s book as it was originally Mavis Beacon that set the groundwork for all typing practice pages that have come into fruition since the early 1990s. Through the multiple editions that have been developed Mavis Beacon has faced many changes but it has been the same since its original release with the sole purpose to improve user’s abilities and love for typing.
